The Fabulous Glock 34

Modified Glock 34 Gen 4

My impressions of the stock Glock 34 Gen 4

I purchased my Glock 34 Gen 4 about 4 months ago, I had about 200-300 rounds through it before i started to think about modification. I used the Magtech 9F ammunition since it had the best shoot groups though the Glock 17 so I assumed it would suite my Glock 34 as well even though the longer barrel.

I really enjoy the looks and feel of the gun however the grip was way to slippery and the trigger pull was ridiculous heavy, besides those “flaws” I were able to shoot fairly tight groups from 25 meters. I were able to keep a 5 shoot group within 9 cm, not to bad for me but can be greatly improved.

The stock plastic adjustable sight did not meet up to my competition standards so those had to be replaced with metal sights as soon as possible.

My modifications on my Glock 34

The list of my modification on my Glock 34 is starting to be quite extensive, lets start with the trigger. The stock trigger pull on the Glock 34 is announced to be 4.5lbs (~2kg), I my case I would estimate it well over 6lbs (~3kg) with is very heavy for a completion gun shooting at 25 meters one handed. I searched and compared the different options available and ended up with the ZEV ADJ. FULCRUM TRIGGER DROP-IN KIT due to cost and other reviews such as this review. With the new trigger installed using the 2lbs spring I was finally happy with the trigger, it is simply amazing and highly recommended to everyone. However you should be aware that with the 2 lbs spring and factory loaded (hard primers) you will have detonations failures. So if you plan to use factory loaded ammunition please be aware or use the 3 lbs spring in your Glock handgun.

For the grips I selected what was available at the local gun shop DEA, the brand of the grip is tactical grip the former web address was www.tac-grip.com but they seam to have seized to exist with is unfortunate since the grips are awesome. I did experiment with a Houge grip but it felt to large for my hands, it actually looked kinda weird as well.

For the sight I went for a fully adjustable metal sight, it replace the both the front and back parts to goes on very easy. I am unable to link to the manufacture of this sight but it is very well made an reasonable priced at this web-shop.

And finally since I am a hand loader I had to replace the stock barrel that is known for not take home loaded ammunition very well due to lack of support at the base of the cartage. I decided to go for a an IGB barrel witch suite my needs just perfectly.

My impressions of the modified Glock 34

As the gun sits in the gun safe today I am very happy with the performance however it has come with substantial costs to get there. this is not really a big issue for me since I get a lot of pleasure out of modifying my stuff as you will learn as I continue to tell about my guns and other hobbies.

By the way, I can now repetitively shoot 5 cm (2 inch) groups from 25 meters one handed. This is with my own hand-loads that I might tell you all about another day.

So if you want a Glock that shoots like a Sig sauer P210 super Target then above is the list of components ;)
